Frequently asked questions

Everything about Twitch badges and how Badge Database tracks them.

Badges
What are Twitch global badges?
Global badges are small icons next to your name in chat that look the same in every channel — unlike subscriber and Bits badges, which each streamer designs for their own channel. Most new ones are limited-time rewards tied to a game launch, an event or a campaign.
How do I get a badge?
Open the badge on the Timeline and check its objective. It is usually one of two things: watch a stream in a specific category for a set time (free), or subscribe / gift a sub to a streamer in that category (paid). The badge is only awarded while the event is running.
Does a gifted sub or Prime count?
For sub-based badges you normally have to buy a Tier 1 subscription or a Tier 1 gift sub yourself. Receiving a gifted sub usually does not count, and Prime subs are often excluded too. When a badge has its own rule, it is written on its page.
I completed the objective but I don't have the badge. What now?
Twitch can take a while to grant it — often a few minutes, sometimes up to a day. Make sure the stream was in the right category and had the reward enabled, and that you watched with the tab active and not muted. If it still hasn't arrived after 24 hours, contact Twitch Support.
How do I equip a badge?
In any chat, click your name (or the chat settings icon) → Chat Identity → pick the badge under Global Badges. Only one global badge can be shown at a time.
Can I lose a badge?
No. Once a badge is in your collection, it stays there even after the event ends. You can only get it again if Twitch reruns the event.
What are channel badges?
Newer campaign badges that a single streamer hands out — for subscribing, watching for a while or being a top supporter during their campaign. They are listed under Channel Badges.
Timeline & dates
Why does a badge say “Date not announced”?
Twitch adds the badge to its system before the event starts, but does not publish the dates anywhere machine-readable. As soon as the dates are known, we add them and the badge moves to Coming up or Active automatically.
What time zone are the dates in?
Everything on the site is shown in your own local time, taken from your browser. Badge pages and event details also show the exact UTC time in brackets, for example Oct 15, 06:00 (04:00 UTC), the way Twitch announces it.
Why is a badge “Active” but I can't find it anywhere?
Many badges only count on streams that are in the right category and have the reward switched on. Open the category from the badge page — Twitch's drops filter shows the participating streams.
About Badge Database
Where does the data come from?
Badge images, titles and descriptions come from the public Twitch API and are checked every 15 minutes. Dates and objectives are added from official announcements and checked against community badge trackers.
How do I get notified about new badges?
Every new global badge is posted on @BadgeDatabase on X the moment it appears, and it shows up here on the site at the same time. The 24/7 stream shows live countdowns, and the Discord is the place to ask questions and chat about badges.
How do “Remind me” notifications work?
Open a badge or event that is upcoming, has no date yet, or is running, and click Remind me. Allow notifications when your browser asks. You get a notification when the dates are announced (if they were not known yet), when the badge becomes available, and a day before it ends (2 hours before for short events). Click the button again (“Reminder on”) to turn it off. On iPhone and iPad, add Badge Database to your Home Screen first (Share, then Add to Home Screen) and set the reminder from there. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
Is Badge Database affiliated with Twitch?
No. Badge Database is an independent fan project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Twitch Interactive, Inc.
I found a mistake — how do I report it?
Message us on Discord or X with the badge name and the correct info, and we'll fix it.
